German plant of Coca-Cola moves its staff in Bulgaria

Coca ColaThe German subsidiary of Coca-Cola plans to close its center in Weimar and move some staff from the Human Resources and Finance departments in Bulgaria, announced Anja Schenk fro the Public Affairs and Communications unit.

“To achieve the highest possible standardization within the entire European organization of Coca-Cola European Partners, part of the financial and HR departments will be moved to the Coca-Cola European Partners Business Center in Sofia (Bulgaria)”, said Anja Schenk.

Coca-Cola plans to discontinue production and administrative activities in Weimar from March 1, 2018. Much of the logistics work will be transferred to an external partner since September 1, 2018.

The planned changes affect about 178 of the 223 jobs in Weimar.

According to the company, the falling sales of bottled products, which can be reused, have led to overcapacity in production. Therefore, the Weimar Center can not be managed in a cost-effective way simply by closing glass bottles.
