Ian Balina, who is an influential Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Investor and Evangelist was recently hacked during his live stream. Balina attempted to access his Google account during the stream to display a document:
After realizing that he couldn’t access his account, he continues his stream without access to the document and says he’ll “take care of that later.”,
After the stream finished he posted the following to his Telegram group:
Hey Crypto Family, I need you now more than ever. I had to end today’s live stream early because I am being hacked.
I need your help tracking the funds being sent off from these Ether wallet addresses.
Hacker ETH Wallets:
On inspection of the above addresses, it is apparent that over $1 Million worth of NucleusVision was stolen, along with significant amounts of other cryptocurrencies.
Balina is known for being an advisor to many ICOs and is a public figure in the crypto world.
It’s currently unknown how the attackers accessed his private keys, but it’s likely that they were stored in a Google document or e-mail within his Google account. The outlook for Balina is, unfortunately, bleak. With very little chance of retrieving the stolen funds. This serves as in important reminder to use a hardware wallet to store cryptocurrency, especially for public figures.
